Being dumped on national television has got to hurt and now Jesse Konstantinoff has joined an exclusive club no one wants a membership to.

But the charming fruit-seller and lover of door metaphors insists he’s on the mend after Michelle Marsh finally closed the door (soz, we couldn’t resist) on their ill-fated marriage on last night’s episode of MAFS.

In what felt like an eternity (OK, it was four minutes of dragged out torture), the 31-year-old explained she wanted to continue their connection but as friends.

“I’m so thankful our paths have crossed, because I do want you in my life forever, but not as your partner,” she told him at the altar.

“I want to be the friend that you confide in, support and have fun with. To continue the friendship we have formed here in the experiment.”

“This is not a sad story, this is still the fairy tale you spoke of. Of two strangers seeking love – only in this case, it’s a friendship of love.”

Speaking on the Today Show, the 29-year-old revealed that true to his ex-wife’s words they have remained mates.

“I’m feeling good now. Mich and I have developed a good friendship. I need to respect her decision and move on,” he said.

Addressing claims on social media that Michelle was stringing him along, Jesse disagreed: “I know she wasn’t, I know those weren’t her intentions.”

When questioned if he was in love with Michelle Jesse revealed, “I wouldn’t go that far. I look back and I think we’re better off as mates.”

As for what the charming Adelaide local is looking for in a girl?

“Someone who is down to earth and easy-going. Someone that’s not high maintenance.”

Hmm, was that a pointed comment at someone there Jesse?

While he’s made peace with their split, he still thinks he could have done things differently.

“I felt like there was a lot more that I could have done. We communicated a lot during the experiment, a lot of times off camera,” he told The Fix.

“There was a moment where we were concerned it was entering the friend-zone. Then I started opening up, and it sort of shocked her. So, I wish I had opened up sooner.”

If it’s any consolation, we think you’re perfect just as you are.

The pair are still in touch and are good pals.

Proving there’s no bad blood, Jesse even went to Michelle and Sharon’s birthday in Perth this month.

Now it’s all finally out in the open, the reality star is ready to hit the dating scene again.

“I’m not dating anyone. I’m wearing a massive c— block at the moment! The ring comes off after the vow renewal episode airs, and then I’m back on the dating scene.”

Something tells us he won’t be single for very long…
