Kim and Kanye named North on Anna Wintour and Pharrell’s advice
Kim Kardashian has spoken about the star power behind her daughter North's name.
Kim Kardashian has spoken about how she and Kanye West decided to name their daughter North West only after getting the tick of approval from infamous fashion editor Anna Wintour and singer Pharrell Williams.
Pharrell Williams reportedly came up to the couple while they were at lunch and said, "Oh my god, are you guys really going to call your daughter North? That is the best name.'"
"Then a little while later Anna Wintour came over and asked the same thing,” Kim continued. “She told us 'North is a genius name.' Kanye and I looked at one another and just laughed. I guess at that point it sort of stuck.”
It is perhaps not so surprising that Kim and Kanye, being the fashion addicts they are, took the American Vogue Editor’s word as gospel. After all, it was Anna who put them on the cover of the fashion bible earlier this year, elevating their fashion credibility ever-higher.
It was previously reported that the meaning behind Kim and Kanye’s decision to name their baby North was metaphorical, not geographical, with the name said to represent the "pinnacle" of the couple’s relationship together.
Young North is currently out in Australia with her parents Kim and Kanye as they tour with Kanye’s “Yeezus” show. Click here to read more.
