If you had of asked Kerry Armstrong two years ago if she’d ever star in a reality TV show, her answer would have been no.

But as the seasoned actress prepares to spend six weeks in the African jungle on season four of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here Australia, the 59-year-old admits she couldn’t be more excited.

“I’m quite a private person so this is kind of the opposite of anything I’d imagine I’d be doing right now,” Kerry tells TV WEEK from her resort in South Africa.

“That being said, I’m really grateful for the opportunity. I just want to have fun and I’m hoping I’ll find out a lot about who I am.”

Despite her excitement, Kerry who stars in Channel Ten drama The Wrong Girl, admits that friends, family and even her colleagues will be shocked to see her on the show tonight.

“No one has any idea,” she reveals with a laugh.

“My friends who I haven’t been able to tell in particular, they’ll be incredibly shocked and worried about me especially Rebecca Gibney and Jane Hall who have both been asking me where I am.”

But Kerry insists they have nothing to worry about.

“When I’m not on screen, the real life Kerry is quite unpredictable,” she says. “I love camping and all that stuff and am a bit of a rebel so I like the unexpected.”

And as far as the challenges and trials are concerned, Kerry’s willing to give everything a crack. Even if it means eating cockroaches, fish guts and various insects.

“I’m sure there will be times when I struggle but I’ll do whatever I can to get food and stuff for the team,” Kerry enthuses.

“It’s almost like I’m slightly deluded, like I’ve got a mental kind of block over what might really happen. Seriously, I just hope we get a few laughs. “
