I’m A Celeb’s Keira: “Kris lied about our relationship”

He flat out denied they were friends, but camp mate Keira reveals that is simply a load of BS!
Keira Maguire, Kris Smith, I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here

You’d probably be right in thinking drama follows her wherever she goes, but things went to a whole new level for Keira Maguire during her time in the I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! jungle.

While she copped a hard time from most of her fellow camp mates, Keira got the most grief from the likes of Steve Price.

It was her relationship – or lack thereof according to him! – that really got her fired up!

Don’t mess with Keira!

You were given a hard time from the moment you stepped foot in the jungle. How did you cope with everything?

It was really difficult.

I’m very sensitive to emotions and negative energy so I really felt it, more so than you would ever imagine.

So it was very, very full on. I went from living life in South Africa for eight days, doing safaris and wining and dining and then to be thrown into a tucker trial within a matter of minutes it was quite full on and quite a lot to handle.

I had no control over my emotions. For the first three days I was literally like, “This is really hectic.”

How did you feel when Kris basically snubbed you and said you were never friends?

I knew Kris [before the show] and he’s always been really nice to me.

But when I went in, he was really different and he kind of dismissed me and I was like, that’s fine I don’t care that much. To be honest with you I think this is what happened.

He knew me before I went on the Bachelor then all of a sudden I’m in the same show as him and he’s like ‘you weren’t even anyone a year ago, how the hell do you deserve to be in here?’ I reckon that’s what was happening.

Like sorry mate, that I’m not on your level. But there’s a bit of snobbery around who was a celebrity and who should’ve been in there. I’m the first to admit that I’m probably not worthy of being in there, but at the same time I can’t help it that I was asked.

Ouch! He told us you just used to live in the same area of Sydney and you introduced yourself to him at a bar once. What do you make of that?

Mmm. We met through mutual friends at a café then we met at a bar and then I bumped into him quite a few times.

I have his number in my phone.

Why would I have your number in my phone mate [if we weren’t friends]?

I think though he’s just protecting himself because he has had a girlfriend for quite some time on and off, so I think it’s a protective thing and we’ll leave it at that. Fair enough we’re not best mates but you can still acknowledge me as a human being.

And then you had to cop it from Steve. What do you his problem was with you?

I have no idea.

Can you tell me what his problem was? He literally from the time I got in there, he just hated me.

You don’t even know me. He’s just such an unhappy person within himself and that’s his own issue.

I think he didn’t like that I stood up for myself as well. I was like no I’m not going to let you push me over or bully me into the corner. I won’t let it happen, there’s no way. For me, I’ve never had a dad telling me what to do, I’m quite independent.

So going from that to having this grumpy guy who was really mean to me, then trying to tell me what to do in the same token. No mate, not how it works around here.

How did this experience compare to The Bachelor?

Completely different.

Ultimately what I’ve learnt is that everyone is different and you are sometimes forced to be around people. And you don’t have to like everyone. And at the end of the day you have to be accepting of everyone’s differences.
