Fran Drescher has revealed she’s currently in talks to revive the beloved family sitcom The Nanny.

She played ‘the flashy girl from Flushing’ – Miss Fran Fine – for six seasons from 1993 to 1999. Almost two decades later, and the 60-year-old actress is ready to revive the show!

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Fran confirmed she’s ‘working’ on a revival idea with series co-creator (and her ex-husband) Peter Marc Jacob.

“We’re talking about it. Peter and I are talking about it,” she says.

“We’re working on a very big project. It’s going to be very exciting for the fans, but I’m not at liberty to announce it yet. But it’s gonna be big.”

Fran Drescher as her sitcom alter-ego Fran Fine.

Of a potential revival series, Fran says she’d like her fictional counter-part to follow in her footsteps.

“She would’ve maybe gotten involved in more things [that] Fran Drencher is involved with,” she reveals. “All kinds of things from environmental issues, to health, to civil liberties, that’s what I think Fran would be doing now — opening her big Queens mouth for the greater good.”

“The thing is our show would be the same characters 20 years later. We can’t just pick up where we left off,” she says. “But in a way, that could be really good because the show can have a whole fresh bend to it.”

When asked if a reboot of The Nanny could fill ABC’s recently-vacant Roseanne time-slot, Fran said “I’m not mad at that suggestion.”

Adding, “I mean, I’m waiting to get the call.”

Of course, no reboot would be complete without returning cast members!

If the series does return, we’d love to see Charles Shaughnessy (Maxwell Sheffield), Madeline Zima (Grace Sheffield), Nicholle Tom (Maggie Sheffield), Benjamin Salisbury (Brighton Sheffield), Lauren Lane (C.C. Babcock), Daniel Davis (Niles) and Renee Taylor (Sylvia Fine) starring.
