Imagine going on a double date with your mum! Well, that’s the awkward situation Sophie Diercke found herself in last night on First Dates Australia.

The 27-year-old wass hoping she’d find her dream man on the reality show. And her mum Peta was also hoping to meet a match after two failed marriages.

We’re getting Kath & Kim vibes from this mother daughter duo.

“I was married for 30 years,” Peta, 59, explains. “It was a really great relationship, but he was very busy with work and I wanted to travel a different path. I still love him, but I’m not in love.”

Peta says her ideal partner is someone active and easy on the eye – like Sean Connery.

“I like my partner to have a similar mind frame,” she says. “Someone really positive.”

Meanwhile, daughter Sophie is looking for that special someone who makes her laugh and can keep her on her toes.

“My relationship history is complicated because I’m complicated,” the assistant manager reveals.

“He also has to like beers, so we can try them together.”

As Peta says of her daughter’s tastes in men, she likes “the bad boys”, or more specifically “an intelligent bad boy with tattoos”.

So, in walks 29-year-old Dean (with tattoos), and both ladies play a little trick on him. “You did sign up for two didn’t you, mother daughter?,” Peta asks him.

Here’s ‘Deano’.

Honestly, Deano had no idea what he was in for.

After Peta thinks she’s been stood up, her date, 53-year-old Zac, walks in. Sophie shouts out a quick “hey dad” to Zac, and their date begins.

Zac’s got the moves!

Dean and Sophie bond over burgers, beers and tattoos and she then debriefs with Mum in the bathroom.

Sadly, the romantic spark wasn’t there for Zac, but as for Dean and Sophie? They agreed to a second date (with Peta as the third-wheel) but didn’t make it to a third.

But we’ll be seeing Peta again in another episode of First Dates! Let’s hope she finds her Sean Connery.
