When former Hi-5 star and wife of Home And Away‘s Tai Hara, Fely Irvine, revealed she had auditioned for American Idol last month, fans marked their calendars with excitement. But when, much to their disappointment, her performance didn’t make it to air, Fely took to YouTube to share her experience.

The 29-year-old shared a video this week to tell fans that despite making it to Hollywood Week on the show, neither of her performances had aired. She went on to say she will likely never get to see the footage herself.

Fely called on friend and guitarist, Henry O’Neill, who performed alongside her during the audition to appear in the video and help retell what unfolded.

The duo recalled Fely instantly caught judge Luke Bryan‘s eye, commenting: “Please tell me you can sing” as she entered the audition room.

“I remember running in and saying something like, ‘I’m so excited!’ or, ‘I think I’m going to vomit on you.’ I screamed Lionel’s name — at him and then I sang” Fely recounted.

The Aussie performer sang two auditions songs, starting with Meghan Trainor’s All About That Bass before following it up with Grenade by Bruno Mars at the request of judge Lionel Richie.

“Lionel said, ‘OK I want to hear another one.’ I said, ‘Yes sir.’ So Henry put the guitar down and he went to the piano and I sang Grenade” the singer told.

She went on to admit: “it wasn’t the best I’ve ever sung those songs but I mean I got a golden ticket so I must’ve done something right.”

While Fely did score a ticket to Hollywood Week she took to Instagram to tell her fans her time there also wouldn’t be televised.

“Last ep of #hollywoodweek airs tonight. and although my performance wont be aired, I’m beyond excited that I got to sing for @lukebryan @katyperry and @lionelrichie on the Dolby Theatre stage. THREE times,” she wrote.

While we’re disappointed we won’t get to see her on screen, her recount of events in the words of judge Katy Perry is as ‘cute as a button’ and makes up for it.
