Family Ties: Siblings who have shared the screen

One of the perks of having a lead role on a major TV series? Every so often, you can get one of your real-life siblings to appear on the show with you!

Bernard & Stephen Curry

BACKGROUND: Comedian and actor Stephen’s acting credits include movies such as The Castle and TV shows such as The Time of Our Lives. Brother Bernard has acting credits ranging from Home And Away to NCIS.

TV SHOW: Sit Down, Shut Up (2001).

TOGETHER: Stephen was a main cast member in the short-lived Aussie sitcom about a dysfunctional school. Bernard guest-starred in one episode.

Morgan & Samara Weaving

BACKGROUND: Australian actress and model Samara is best known for her roles on Home And Away and Out Of The Blue. Sister Morgan has had guest roles on Puberty Blues and Home And Away.

TV SHOW: Home And Away (2012).

TOGETHER: Samara played fan favourite Indi for four years on the long-running Aussie soap. Morgan joined her for 28 episodes, playing Lottie, Harvey’s (Marcus Graham) daughter from an earlier marriage.

Fred & Ben Savage

BACKGROUND: Fred and Ben are best known for their roles on TV series The Wonder Years and Boy Meets World respectively. Fred is now a director, while Ben stars in reboot series Girl Meets World.

TV SHOWS: The Wonder Years (1990) and Boy Meets World (1998).

TOGETHER: Ben had a minor role in a Valentine’s Day episode in The Wonder Years. Fred meanwhile, starred as cool college teacher Stuart in an episode of Boy Meets World. Fred later went on to direct two episodes of the show.

Noah & Miley Cyrus

BACKGROUND: Nowadays, Miley is a controversial pop star who pushes the envelope. Her younger sister Noah has had a few movie and television guest parts.

TV SHOW: Hannah Montana (2006-2010).

TOGETHER: Before Miley was swinging on wrecking balls, she was the star of Disney musical comedy TV series Hannah Montana. Noah played minor roles in six episodes of the show. (The girls’ older half-sister Brandi a TV host and musician, also appeared in a couple of episodes, playing a guitarist).

Andrew & Cameron Daddo

BACKGROUND: Aussie TV personality and author Andrew dabbled in acting early in his career. Brother Cameron has a slew of acting credits, including appearances on NCIS: Los Angeles and local series Packed To The Rafters. (Younger sibling Lochie is also an actor and presenter.)

TV SHOW: Cluedo (1992).

TOGETHER: Andrew played Professor Peter Plum on the ’90s Australian series. Cameron appeared in one episode as the professor’s disruptive brother, Roger.

Patricia & Rosanna Arquette

BACKGROUND: Oscar-winning actress Patricia has starred in everything from acclaimed films such as Boyhood to TV shows such as Medium. Rosanna is a respected film and television actress whose credits include Desperately Seeking Susan and Crash.

TV SHOW: CSI: Cyber (2015).

TOGETHER: Patricia currently plays the lead role – FBI special agent Avery Ryan – on CSI: Cyber. Rosanna guest-stars in a one-off appearance as Trish McCarthy, one of Avery’s former patients.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus & Lauren Bowles

BACKGROUND: Award- winning actress and comedian Julia is best known for Seinfeld. Her half-sister Lauren Bowles has landed guest roles in shows such as CSI and Arrested Development.

TV SHOW: Seinfeld (1991-1998).

TOGETHER: Lauren had a recurring role as a waitress at the coffee shop.

Zooey & Emily Deschanel

BACKGROUND: Emily is the star of TV series Bones. Zooey is known for her roles in movies such as Almost Famous and the TV series New Girl.

TV SHOW: Bones (2009).

TOGETHER: In season five, Zooey makes a guest appearance as Margaret Whitesell, a distant cousin of Emily’s character Dr Temperance Brennan. The pair butt heads, but make amends after spending Christmas with the family.

Haylie & Hilary Duff

BACKGROUND: Hilary became a teen sensation in films such as Agent Cody Banks and A Cinderella Story. Older sister Haylie starred in the movie Napoleon Dynamite and TV series 7th Heaven.

TV SHOW: Lizzie McGuire (2002-2003)

TOGETHER: Hilary played the title role in the teen sitcom, with Haylie making three appearances as an older muso cousin.
