He’s busy promoting his new album Divide – which is dominating the charts right now – but Ed Sheeran is about to get a whole lot busier, with reports he’s scored a role on Game of Throne’s seventh season.

Somebody get us an iron throne, we need to take a seat for this one.

“For years, we tried to get Ed Sheeran on the show to surprise Maisie [Williams], and this year we finally did it,” show runner David Benioff revealed over the weekend at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas.

So what’s his character going to be? Will he be #TeamJonSnow?

“He has a role. No more details,” a HBO spokesperson has told Variety of Ed’s upcoming cameo.

Season seven is set to hit our screens on July 16, and honestly, we don’t think we can wait that long to find out!

This isn’t the first time Ed’s teased his obsession with starring in GoT.

In 2015, he told The Sun that he was hounding the show’s cast and crew to let him be an extra in the cult series.

It certainly helps that he’s besties with the gang.

“All of the Game of Thrones cast ended up around my house the other day, really randomly,” Ed revealed in a radio interview with The Cooper Lawrence Show in January. “And they ended up getting subjected to a listening session.”

We can just see Ed and his flamin’ locks saving us from the wrath of winter and those freaking White Walkers.

Ed and GoT star Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark.
