The six-part series, titled Secret City: Under the Eagle, is currently filming on location in Sydney, but a premiere date is yet to be confirmed.
Based on the best-selling political novels by journalists Chris Uhlmann and Steve Lewis, it will follow Harriet Dunkley (Anna Torv) as she investigates what happens behind Canberra's closed doors.
It picks up with Harriet fresh out of prison and implicated in a cover-up instigated by Catriona Bailey (Jacki Weaver). And upon returning to Canberra Harriet uncovers a military program so secret no even the Prime Minister knows about it.
The question it all leads to is frightening: who is really running the country?
