Also joining the cast is Glitch star Andrew McFarlane, who will play Air Chief Marshall Wes Lockwood.

The pair has previously starred together in miniseries Devil’s Playground.

Adding to the line-up are The Doctor Blake Mysteries actor, Joel Tobeck who plays Defence Minister Jim Hellier, and Christopher Kirby (The Matrix Reloaded) who plays US Ambassador to Australia, Kip Buchanan.

Winners & Losers’ Tom Wren and Hoges star Laura Gordon has also signed on as Energy Lobbyist Alex Berezina and Drone pilot Caroline Treloar, respectively.

It was previously announced that leads Anna Torv and Jacki Weaver will reprise their roles for season two, as will Danielle Cormack, Rob Collins, Sacha Holder, Marcus Graham and Justin Smith.

Anna Torv and Jacki Weaver will reprise their roles.

The six-part series, titled Secret City: Under the Eagle, is currently filming on location in Sydney, but a premiere date is yet to be confirmed.

Based on the best-selling political novels by journalists Chris Uhlmann and Steve Lewis, it will follow Harriet Dunkley (Anna Torv) as she investigates what happens behind Canberra’s closed doors.

It picks up with Harriet fresh out of prison and implicated in a cover-up instigated by Catriona Bailey (Jacki Weaver). And upon returning to Canberra Harriet uncovers a military program so secret no even the Prime Minister knows about it.

The question it all leads to is frightening: who is really running the country?
