Daniella reveals her health plummeted during the filming of House Rules

The House Rules contestant says she defied doctors’ orders in Western Australia.

House Rules contestant Daniella has revealed she defied doctors’ orders by working on the renovation.

Chatting to TV WEEK, the Gold Coast mum-of-two reveals she was told to be on “bed rest” after being rushed to hospital for passing kidney stones during the WA reno, which was played out on screen last week.

But the 38-year-old didn’t listen.

“They wanted to put me on bed rest,” Daniella tells TV WEEK. “I did the whole, ‘I’m okay, I’m really okay,’ kind of thing.

“I didn’t want a medical condition to stop me from what I was starting to fall in love with, and that was renovating.”

Recalling the excruciating pain, Daniella admits she knew something was seriously wrong instantly.

“We were in the tent and I woke up in the middle of the night with massive pressure on my kidneys,” Daniella remembers.

“I didn’t know what was going on. The pain just got worse. I was crippled over.”

Aaron rushed her to hospital.

“I was weeing blood. I was like, ‘Okay, this is not good,’” she recalls.

Daniella describes the experience as “pretty horrendous”. But after she’d passed it, the pain eased.

“I was all about, ‘Oh my God, we need to get back to site, what am I going to do?’ I left the hospital at midday and I went back on light duties for the rest of the week,” she says.

Daniella thinks her background as a professional dancer helped her push on in the competition.

“Maybe it’s a dancer mentality, the mentality of you’ve got to keep going, no matter what,” she says.

Plus, she had the help of medication to get her through – “all the good stuff to keep pain away”.

Daniella says both she and Aaron are “pretty tough cookies”.

“We keep rolling with the punches,” she says.
