Beloved Bondi Rescue star Bruce "Hoppo" Hopkins and his beautiful bride Stacey Woods have exchanged vows – and there wasn't a dry eye in the house!
But it wasn’t the bride or groom who shed the biggest flood of tears, rather his best man and fellow TV star Rod “Kerrbox” Kerr!
Loveable lifeguard Hoppo was forced to pause the ceremony halfway through to offer his buddy a supportive hug when Rod was overcome by emotion – a spontaneous show of mateship providing an unforgettable moment of laughter for the couple’s 80 guests.
“I think he cried more than Stacey did,” laughs Hoppo, 46.It wasn’t an easy journey to the altar though, while Stacey answered “Yes! When Hoppo popped the question while holidaying in Goa, India, she then called off the couple’s original plans just before their 2013 nuptials, leaving Hoppo with a runaway bride.
“It was such a horrible thing to do and I am eternally sorry for doing that. I was just really daunted by the idea of commitment,” she said at the time.
Despite the drama, the stars aligned and true love prevailed.
“I didn’t think it would feel any different being husband and wife,” says Stacey.
“But it does. I can feel this new energy between us; we feel so solid. It’s just amazing.”
