Home and Away actor Ben Unwin tragically dies at age 41

The actor-turned lawyer was found dead by police a week ago.

Former Home and Away actor Ben Unwin has died at age 41.

Ben famously played Jesse McGregor on the Channel Seven soap opera from 1996–2000 and then 2002–2005.

It’s understood Ben died last week.

In a statement, NSW Police said they were called to Minyon Galls in the Whian Whian State Conservation area, near Byron Bay, after locals “responded to a concern for welfare”.

“The body of a 41-year-old man was located. The death has not been treated as suspicious,” police said in a statement.

Unwin was nominated for Most Popular New Talent at the Logie Awards in 1997 for his performance on the show and was also nominated for a British National Television Award during that same year.

After leaving acting, he completed a law degree and was working as a solicitor in Sydney.

Unwin, who starred alongside fellow high profile Home and Away alumni Kate Ritchie, Bec Hewitt and Ryan Kwanten, was recently featured on Ritchie’s Instagram in this hilarious throwback Instagram photo back in 1998.

Last year, Ritchie posted the adorable picture of the three young stars on Instagram, to mark the show’s 30 year anniversary.

“I”m afraid there’s no #lifesaver emoji and I’m not sure I have the words for this 1998 Polaroid so I’m going with these.. ☀️🌊🎬📺🐠🌴🌴🌴🏄🏼‍♂️🏄🏻‍♂️☀️💋 #wouldntwanttobedrowning #summerbay #jesse #sallyfletcher #vinnie #homeandaway #thirtyyears,” she wrote.
