Are Richard Reid and Melissa Joan Hart heading to I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!

Richard Reid

The Today Show’s gossip guru, Richard Reid has announced after seven ‘glorious’ years he’ll be leaving the show, which has lead to rumours about where he could be headed next?

The Hollywood-based celebrity presenter took to his Facebook page to announce that hat his time with the team had been “one of the wildest and most rewarding of my career. I am truly blessed.”

The funny man added “I love to say that I’m like a bad rash: I always come back!”

Richard went on to say that his time would be spent “attending to family matters and hard at work developing TV projects in both Oz and LA.”

This isn’t the first departure for the Today show, with Georgie Gardner and Ben Fordham leaving last year.

The larger-than-life personality promises that “2015 will be full of surprises”.

With Richard’s departure from the show, we think that makes him a front-runner for a spot on Network Ten’s new series I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! The rumour mill has gone into overdrive speculating over who will form part of Ten’s mysterious celebrity cast.

So far Ten has kept the identity of their new stats under wraps, although they have revealed that the contestants on the new show (presented by Funny lady Julia Morris and TV vet Chris Brown) will include a TV actress, a model, a comedian, and a cricketer.

“The contestants will include a world famous overseas TV actress, an international model, a young Australian comedian, and an Australian cricketer,” Stephen Tate, Ten’s head of entertainment and factual programming, said.

Speculation has also been rife that local ‘acid-tongued’ stand-up comedian Joel Creasey could be amongst the new cast members but it was the possibility of an international star that set tongues wagging today.

Signs point towards TV actress Melissa Joan Hart, best known for her role as Sabrina, the Teenage Witch taking part after she  started following the show’s Twitter feed earlier this week.

Other rumoured candidates include Family Feud’s Grant Denyer, cricketer Andrew Symonds, actor Vince Colosimo, Australian Idol judges Mark Holden and Ian “Dicko” Dickson and The Bachelor’s Laurina Fleure (who we think would be spectacular!).

“What is crucial is to get the mix right. Ultimately we’re putting together a great big dysfunctional family,” Tate says.

The ten contestants will head into the reality show’s African jungle location within weeks, hitting airwaves in late January/early February and screening live five nights a week on Nertwork ten.

We can’t wait to see who is headed into the jungle and Richard Reid with Melissa Joan Hart would be a magical combination!
