It seems like years since he disappeared from our shores, Without A Trace, but Hollywood heavy hitter Anthony LaPaglia is returning to Australia for a new role.

Today it was announced that Anthony will join former Two And A Half Men star Melanie Lysnkey in four-part SBS crime series Sunshine.

Sunshine tells the story of Jacob, a talented South Sudanese basketballer from Melbourne’s outer western suburbs who finds himself the target of US college scouts.

Former Two And A Half Men star Melanie Lysnkey (pictured with Martin Sheen) will join Anthony in the new series.

Anthony LaPaglia plays Eddie, a less than enthusiastic basketball coach targeted by Jacob as the man who can help him make it to the big time.

Produced by the team who made The Principal and directed by Daina Reid (The Secret River, The Wrong Girl, Never Tear Us Apart: The INXS Story) Sunshine will air on SBS later this year.

The four-part series also stars Kim Gyngell (Rake, Jack Irish), Tiarnie Coupland (Love Child), Vince Colosimo (Jack Irish, Janet King, Underbelly), Leah Vandenberg (The Wrong Girl), Paul Ireland (Jack Irish, INXS: Never Tear Us Apart, Underbelly) and Trudy Hellier (Winners & Losers, The Doctor Blake Mysteries, The Time Of Our Lives).
