Broadchurch (Crime Drama, MA15+)

David Tennant, Olivia Colman and Jodie Whittaker star in this addictive crime thriller, which follows DS Ellie Miller (Colman) and DI Alec Hardy (Tennant) as they investigate a child homicide in a small coastal town.

While the subject matter of the BAFTA Award-winning drama is grim, the way the story unfolds will have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

Mr Selfridge (Historical Drama, M)

For many, actor Jeremy Piven will always be synonymous and best remembered for his role as the tough-talking agent Ari Gold in Entourage. But in the popular series Mr Selfridge, Jeremy brings a different kind of charm and charisma to the true story of Harry Gordon Selfridge, the man who would go on to create one of the world’s most iconic department stores, Selfridges.

Set between 1908 and 1928, Jeremy shines as the American entrepreneur who wanted shopping at his iconic, game-changing Oxford Street store to be an entertaining experience.

Thorne (Crime, MA15+)

Based on the Tom Thorne crime novels by author Mark Billingham, Thorne is a paint-by-numbers detective procedural with enough flashing lights to keep you interested.

David Morrissey plays DI Tom Thorne, a no-nonsense detective who doesn’t exactly ooze enthusiasm. Thankfully, the strong supporting cast helps keep the show ticking along, with Killing Eve star Sandra Oh and Californication’s Natascha McElhone popping up throughout the six episodes.

Victoria (Historical Drama, PG)

Queen Victoria is one of Britain’s most revered royals. As the second longest running reigning monarch, bringing her story to life was a colossal task for actress Jenna Coleman. But in Victoria, Jenna steps into the sovereign’s shoes to tell her remarkable story.

“It was very interesting because once I got the job it was a matter of three weeks before I had to be on a horseback riding on camera, ballroom dancing and playing the piano,” Jenna tells TV WEEK.

“I managed to get some Beethoven down. I have a piano in my house and I have wanted to learn for ages, so it was the perfect opportunity.”
