A new family joins the cast of Neighbours

That’s right, a new family is hitting Erinsborough – and they’re related to Toadie!

Neighbours is getting five new faces when Toldie’s (Ryan Moloney) older brother Shane Rebecchi (Nicholas Coghlan) comes to town from the country, along with wife Dipi (Sharon Johal). They will be joined by their daughters Yashvi (Olivia Junkeer) and Kirsha (Vani Dhir), as well as Dipi’s younger sister, Mishti Sharma (Scarlet Vas).

Toadie’s world is about to become even more complicated.

The character of Shane Rebecchi was originally played by Greg O’Meara in 1995. Something of a bad boy, Shane went to prison, but then busted out. Nicholas is excited to be reprising the role.

“I’m elated to be joining the Neighbours cast (and the Rebecchi clan!),” he says. “It’s an honour and a thrill to have the chance to come and play in such an iconic Aussie TV show.”

Likewise, Sharon is thrilled to be “part of history”.

“Neighbours is theAustralian iconic,” she says. “Dipi is a woman after my own heart; warm and loving, but strong and fierce at the same time.”

Newcomers Olivia are Scarlet are over the moon to be getting their break in Neighbours. The show has been a breeding ground for talented actresses such as Kyle Minogue, Delta Goodrem and Margot Robbie.

“Getting the role of Mishti Sharma has been a dream come true!” Scarlet says. “What an amazing opportunity to be able to join such an amazing team.”

Adds Olivia: “I’m learning so much and am very excited for what’s to come in the future.”

The new family will be on screen from April 17.
