Prince William and Kate Middleton pick base for Australian tour

William and Kate will reportedly base themselves in Sydney during their upcoming Australian tour.

The couple are due to bring their young son Prince George Down Under in April, and have reportedly chosen the harbour city as their base, just as Prince Charles and Princess Diana did in 1983.

The royal couple’s itinerary and accommodation are still up in the air but all details are expected to be confirmed in the next four weeks.

“An advance party of royal aides will arrive in Sydney this month to finalise precise details of the expected month-long itinerary,” a source said.

“One key issue is secure accommodation where the then nine-month-old Prince George, third in line to the throne, can be cared for while the royal couple meet what is likely to be a gruelling program.”

When Charles and Diana brought baby William to Australia, they based themselves at the Woomargama homestead near Albury in country NSW.

The family spent time in the farmhouse while they weren’t on duty and it is believed William took his first steps inside.
