Saturday Night Live comedians Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon have joined forces with the hilarious Bridesmaids stars Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy.

The trailer promises an action packed film and shows Kristen playing a particle physicist, Kate as a nuclear engineer, Melissa as a paranormal expert and Leslie as a guide to the city of New York.

We’re also given a glimpse of our very own Chris Hemsworth who plays a dashing receptionist by the name of Kevin, which we might add is something we are VERY excited to see.

Don’t mind if we do!

Long-time fans will be happy to hear that original cast members Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Dan Aykroyd and Sigourney Weaver will be making cameo appearances, as well as the familiar face of green ghost Slimer and the Ecto-1 car. And yes, there will be slime.

“It was really important to really capture the heart of what we loved so much about the original. And it was really important to Paul to still bring something new, so it wouldn’t just feel like another reboot,” said co-writer Katie Dippold in a recent Q&A.

On his choice of using a female-led cast, director Paul Feig said: “I just wanted the funniest people, and the funniest people I know are these women.”

“There was no issue of gender, it was really ‘oh my god, there is something unique about these four together'”.

Ghostbusters opens in Australia on July 14.

Flashback! Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis in the 1984 original.
