With his lies stacking up yet again, Kahu faces the wrath of Tane on Home And Away. But will he finally tell the truth?

Tane (Ethan Browne) is feeling optimistic after his heart-to-heart with Kahu (Jordi Webber). His younger cousin, who has borrowed money from Tane for suspicious reasons, recently opened up about his financial troubles and pleaded for a fresh start.

It looked promising, until Kahu fails to turn up to the gym for work this week. Worse, he’s cleared out his belongings! Tane heads home to confront Kahu, but receives a call alerting him to suspicious activity on the company credit card. Someone had paid a deposit for the rental of a houseboat…

Tane is livid, as is his wife, Felicity (Jacqui Purvis), who has been suspicious of Kahu from the outset. Kahu has used his charm to manipulate people, including his family.

“People welcomed him with open arms at first, because they saw how happy Tane was to have his cousin there, but over time that perception changes,” Jordi tells TV WEEK.

What will Tane do?

Out on the water, Kahu is stunned to see Tane motoring towards him. He can see this isn’t a friendly visit.

Kahu tries to lie his way out of it again, but Tane won’t be taken for a fool. In a stalemate, Kahu admits to everything: in a bid to fulfil a dream, he’s spiralled into a pattern of borrowing money and finding ways to pay off debts. Now, his mother has taken out a loan she can’t afford to help him.

“On the surface, Kahu is smiles and fun, but behind the smile there’s some neglect and pain,” Jordi says. “He grew up with a single mother and has been spoilt by her.”

When Tane orders him to tell his mother the truth, it’s clear Kahu is ashamed. So Tane offers to do it with him. They’ll fly to New Zealand together.

“Kahu has a lot to figure out at first, and needs to right a lot of his wrongs,” Jordi says. “But after that, I think there’s a really good man there.”
