In a touching father-daughter video on the official Home and Away Instagram page, James Stewart and his daughter Scout, seven, shared a message with followers.

James, who shares Scout with ex-fiancee Jessica Marais, said that it’s normal to feel a little “scared” and “anxious” during these challenging times and reassured fans that everyone is in the same boat.

“We’re all experiencing the same feelings. We’ve been a little bit scared for the last sort of month. We’re a bit anxious. We didn’t know what social distancing meant,” James said.

James then revealed that Scout had come up with a list of activities she wanted to do at home to help her pass the time.

“First of all is to learn piano and guitar and to paint and draw. And I really want to practice reading,” she said, reading from her list.

Nodding along in approval to the list, James joked that Scout wouldn’t have much choice when it comes to reading as he’d make her do that one and hilariously looked less than impressed when Scout revealed she also wanted to “teach Dad how to dance and plait my hair.”

Scout sweetly finished off her list by adding that she was hoping to “spend time with dad and learn how to cook with him and use our new herb garden.”

Lukas Radovich

Lukas Radovich, who plays Ryder on the long-running soap, had some top tips for Home and Away fans struggling to cope with self-isolation.

He warned: “In this unprecedented time it’s really easy to fall victim to your own stresses and anxieties.”

The actor advised to stop worrying about things you’re “supposed to do” to make the most out of self-isolate and give yourself a break instead.

“There’s been a lot of chat about how you must use this time to be super productive, to write that next bestseller, to get that gymfit bod you’ve always wanted, ” he said.

“But that’s just adding more unnecessary stress to an already intense situation so be easy on yourself and others.”

Georgie Parker also added to the chorus of reassuring messages with her own inspirational video.

“I just want to send out a message to anyone that’s listening that I understand that this is a very difficult time for a lot of people,” Georgie, who plays Roo, said.

“There’s a lot of unknowns, there’s a lot of uncertainty and there’s a lot of stress and I’m just here to give you a little reminder that if we only focus on those things, then that is all we will feel.”

The actress told followers to take regular breaks where possible an echoed Lukas’ sentiment that it’s important not to be too hard on yourself and others in this period.

“I am here giving you a message of, just take time out every day if you can, at any point, just to give yourself a break,” she said.

“Give your mind a break of the monotony of stress, anxiety and self-preservation. Social distancing doesn’t mean not being kind, not being emotionally connected and not being there for one another.”
