It’s not every day a new resident drops in to Summer Bay, so when they do it’s cause for celebration. Well, off-screen at least.

The stars of Home and Away have been sharing the love online for the show’s latest newcomer, Matt Evans, who came crashing into town as Theo this week. And while his character may be off to a rocky start on-screen, he’s certainly made a positive impression on his co-stars.

Sharing a selfie alongside James Stewart (Justin Morgan), Georgie Parker (Roo Stewart) welcomed Matt to the Home and Away family.

“This utterly delightful human joins our show tonight,” she wrote. “Welcome to The Bay Matt.”

James shared his own behind-the-scenes snaps from the set, sharing a selfie with Matt.

“Welcome to the funhouse Matty!!” he wrote in his caption.

Meanwhile, the other Home and Away stars shared their love for Matt on Instagram Stories.

“Literally can’t wait to arrest this guy,” Nicholas Cartwright wrote, with the actor joking around about his character, Constable Cash Newman, chasing after Theo in his first scenes.

Lukas Radovich hinted at mischief to come, writing: “Happy Matt Evans day! Welcome to the team. Tune in to see Ryder and Theo get up to all sorts of trouble.”

Making his first appearance on Thursday night’s episode, Matt’s character Theo is revealed to be a relative of someone in town when he’s pulled over for speeding by Cash.

“He is just fun, he is act first, think later,” Matt explained of his character in a recent interview.

“He doesn’t think about his choices and often gets himself into trouble because of that. He has a good heart when you get down to it.”

Matt’s described Theo as a bit impulsive.

It’s not the first time Matt’s appeared on Australian television, with the 25-year-old star previously auditioning for The Voice Australia in 2020.

Making it to the Top 20 as a member of Team Delta, Matt made quite the impression on viewers thanks to his magical voice. Now, he’s ready to try his hand at acting.

“I’ve now found acting that I really want it to be a part of my life forever. I’m never going to drop my music either because it’s something I’ve always done so I really want to do both,” he told The Daily Telegraph.
