The cast and crew of Home and Away have been following stay-at-home orders for the past month, alongside all the other Sydneysiders currently in lockdown due to an outbreak of the coronavirus delta variant.

Shutting down production in July, the hit TV show was temporarily put on a filming hiatus while they figured out their next steps.

Now, the team are finally back in Summer Bay and ready to bring some fresh on-screen drama our way, with the cast descending on Palm Beach in Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

Lynne McGranger, who stars as the show’s iconic Irene Roberts, has shared her first back-to-work photo from the covid-safe set.

Posing in front of a testing clinic for the Home and Away team, she was photographed standing beneath a kookaburra bird in the sunny snap.

“This guy popped down to visit us at the covid testing site on location,” Lynne wrote in her caption, pointing at the native bird.

A spokesperson from Channel Seven confirmed there are a new range of protocols in place to enable the team to get back to work.

“During production, Home and Away have a range of measures to minimise risk for cast and crew,” they said in a statement to TV WEEK.

“These measures, including temperature checks on arrival, increased hygiene practices and rigorous cleaning schedules, are overseen by dedicated safety officers.”

The return to set comes after several of the show’s biggest stars recently shared their own vaccination journeys on social media.

Lynne revealed she had received both doses of her vaccination in late July, posting a selfie with her AstraZeneca leaflet.

“Fully vaccinated all you flat earthers out there,” she wrote in her caption. “Huge congratulations to everyone out there on their first or second vax and to all those who are waiting for theirs.”

Ada Nicodemou, known for her role as Leah Patterson-Baker, just received her second jab and celebrated with a shot of her bandage-covered arm.

“Fully vaccinated baby!! Go and get vaccinated Australia and let’s get through this,” she said.

Her co-star Lynne commented, “Yay!! That’s ma girl,” while Georgie Parker wrote, “Good on you sweetheart.”

Meanwhile, Georgie (Roo Stewart) shared a joy-ridden post where she could be seen throwing her arms up in celebration after receiving her vaccine.

“Vaccinated #2 with AstraZeneca,” she wrote. “Huge thanks to all the people on the frontline, doing all they can at this unprecedented time to keep us safe.”

The actor also took a moment on her Instagram story to thank the incredible frontline workers. She wrote, “Stoked about being fully vaccinated. Thanks to our frontline workers. You’re all bloody champions.”

Big smiles all around as Georgie celebrates.
