The newly single actor’s seeking comfort in his High School (Musical) sweetheart!
After suddenly splitting from his girlfriend-of-two-years Sami Miro just last month, Zac Efron’s wasting no time mending his broken heart – by getting in touch with first love Vanessa Hudgens!
Yep, amid reports that Sami, 28, was cheating on him and has moved on with Dutch DJ Alex Andre, we hear Zac has been blowing up the phone of his High School Musical co-star ex – who he split from in 2010 after five years together.
What’s more, the hunky Baywatch actor’s been sending her seriously flirty sexts!
“Vanessa’s been taking Zac’s calls, but only because she’s really worried about him,” a pal spills to NW.
“He was in tears when he told Vanessa that Sami cheated on him, but Vanessa heard him out and since then he’s been leaning on her more and more.”
And while Vanessa may be just a shoulder to cry on for now, the friend tells us 28-year-old Zac would take the boho babe back in a heartbeat. In fact, he’s been hoping to win her heart back for years!
Indeed, despite rumours Vanessa dumped Zac because he’d cheated on her, insiders say there was no third party involved and that Zac’s as smitten with Ness as he was in their love-at-first-sight heyday!
“I had a crush on Vanessa,” he says of the moment he first met her on set of High School Musical in 2005. “We clicked right away.”
But fans shouldn’t hold their breath for a romantic reboot – the Grease: Live actress is shacked up with her boyfriend of five years, 24-year-old actor Austin Butler.
Of course, given Zac and Vanessa’s history – not to mention his Greek-god bod! – Austin’s been on high alert since hearing about the phone calls.
“He’s totally intimidated by Zac and his hulking muscles and would never confront him, but he’s terrified he’s going to worm his way back into Vanessa’s heart,” says the pal.
Can’t say we blame him – saying no to Zac can’t be easy!
