It’s hard to believe that it’s been one year since Bobbi Kristina Brown was found unresponsive in a bathtub.
However, her family and friends are still struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.
“It’s still surreal,” her neighbour and friend Debbie Brooks told PEOPLE.
“My heart is so heavy and I miss her every day. Every time I walk by her house, I expect her to come running out.”
Bobbi Kristina was found by partner Nick Gordon, facedown and unresponsive in the bathtub of her Georgia home in circumstances so eerily similar to that of her mother and pop icon, Whitney Houston.
Houston was 48 when she was found drowned in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton hotel in LA in 2012.
Authorities reportedly found a cocktail of prescription pills in her suite and listed heart disease and cocaine use as contributors – Houston’s battle with substance abuse had been the fodder of media headlines for many years in the lead up to her death.
Bobbi Kristina was only 18 years old at the time of her mother’s death and was the sole heir to her estate.
Rest in peace, Bobbi.
