Remarkable scenes across the world are unfolding as fans pay tribute to the late musical icon, David Bowie.

David Bowie’s loyal fans are ensuring he gets the send-off of a lifetime, with impromptu street parties, floral tributes and powerful projections taking place to honour his legacy.

The Starman hitmaker’s original stomping ground of Brixton in London’s south has been particularly flooded with moving tributes.

His childhood home in the suburb has been flooded with flowers and notes while the famous David Bowie mural nearby boasts similar scenes.

In Hollywood, the 69-year-old’s Walk Of Fame is awash with glitter and sparkles.

Celebrities have also paid tribute to the original master of reinvention. Model Kate Moss let her clothes do the talking and stepped out with a David Bowie T-shirt in London on Monday while stars like Kanye West, Madonna and Naomi Campbell have all taken to social media to express their heartbreak.

The singer’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame has been covered in glitter, flowers and champagne.

The Brixton Underground has been transformed into a sea of flowers.

The Metro in Chicago’s homage was understated yet perfect.

Aussie actor Hugh Jackman remembered Bowie’s role in the 2006 flick The Prestige.

Rapper Kanye West said the father-of-three “gave us magic for a lifetime.”

Madonna paid tribute via Instagram.

She also kept Bowie’s second wife Iman in her thoughts.

Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger described him as a “true original.”

The Pixies shared this photo.

The tragic news was released on the star’s Facebook page in a message which read: “January 10 2016 – David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.”
