When Tommy Little and Luke McGregor met 10 years ago, it was mates at first sight. Now, after years of getting to know each other, the comedic duo have taken their mateship to the next level: they’ve moved in together.

“We’ve been living with each other since the start of the year,” Tommy, 33, reveals. “I haven’t got an exact date for you, but it was the start of the downfall of society.”

Luke tells TV WEEK he was on the rebound, having just broken up with his girlfriend, when he decided to crash at Tommy’s place in Melbourne.

The flatmates have the perfect romance.

“At first I was sleeping on Celia Pacquola’s [his co-star in ABC comedy Rosehaven] couch,” Luke, 35, admits. “Then Tommy said he had a spare room.”

The rest, as they say, is history.

“We’ve had moments where we look at each other, thinking, ‘This is as good as life gets,'” Tommy laughs.

“We’re in our thirties and thought we’d be married and have kids by now. Instead, we’re playing video games and sometimes drinking whiskey until the wee hours.”

It’s clear why Tommy thinks their house is ‘as good as life gets.’

The whiskey was definitely flowing when Tommy heard his flatmate had scored himself a TV WEEK Logie Award nomination for Most Popular Actor for his role in Rosehaven.

Now, Tommy is on a mission to ensure his roomie takes out the award, even if he is up against the likes of 800 Words’ Erik Thomson, Home And Away veteran Ray Meagher and Doctor Doctor star Rodger Corser.

“Luke isn’t confident enough to spruik himself up, so I’m going to take on full-time spruiker duties the week live voting opens,” The Project co-host enthuses.

“I’ll be blasting his face absolutely everywhere.”

Tommy is so excited his friend is nominated for a Logie award.

But Tommy’s campaigning will come at a cost – or “mates rates”, as he likes to call it.

“Considering it’s now season three of Rosehaven and knowing I want to do more acting…” Tommy teases. “There needs to be a role for a comedian who can’t act very well. I’m sure I’d nail it.”

Luke isn’t sure writing a role in Rosehaven for Tommy is a good idea.

Meanwhile, Luke says his nomination couldn’t have come at a better time.

“I’ve got my school reunion this year, so it’s perfect timing,” he says. “Last time, I had nothing to bring. So if I win, I’ll wear it [the Logie statue] around my neck and carry it with me wherever I go, just for confidence.”
