Becoming Beyoncé: The explosive new book on the world’s biggest star

She’s worth half a billion dollars, has become a pop culture icon, and only needs to be referred to by her first name.

But make no mistake, Beyoncé’s ride to the height of fame didn’t come without some frightening twists and turns.

In an explosive new book called Becoming Beyoncé: The Untold Story by J. Randy Taraborrelli, a string of damaging rumours about the music star have been unveiled, and they’re taking aim at her marriage, her career and THAT incident in the elevator.

The juicy read is a self-proclaimed “backstage pass to the glamorous and cutthroat world of the music business, and an absorbing insider account of the birth of a pop culture legend” and nothing is off limits.

Bombshell number one reveals that Beyoncé and her husband Jay Z reportedly spit for a year in 2005 after rumours he had an affair with his then protégé, Rihanna, surfaced.

Rihanna’s publicist Jonathan Hay admitted in his book Publicity Stunt – The Art of Noise that he was responsible for leaking the “false” claims in a bid to garner hype for her break-out single Pon de Replay.

“I began to fabricate stories of Rihanna and Jay Z, leaking false rumours to tabloids, working with Internet message boards, etc,” he wrote.

Jonathan has since apologised for his actions. “The PR stunt that I did was out of desperation to help break Pon de Replay. It was reckless and I didn’t think it was going to work. I was just throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what would stick,” the PR guru told Daily News recently.

“I’m ashamed that I’m even talking about this. I just want to put this rumour to rest once and for all,” he added regretfully.

The tell-all unauthorised biography also touched on the infamous 2014 incident in the elevator – that still has us perplexed a whole year later.

According to the book, the fight between Solange Knowles and Jay Z in the lift after the MET Gala stemmed from an argument about Rihanna.

“It was a whispered married couple’s argument that would have gone by completely unnoticed had not Solange overheard it… Solange has always been Beyoncé’s biggest protector,” Randy told ET.

Since details from the damaging new tome have slowly been released, more skeletons from Queen Bey’s closet have been aired – including her ex-boyfriend of more than a decade.

Speaking to the The Mail on Sunday, the mum-of-one’s former flame, Lyndall Locke, revealed that even at 12 she was a diva and knew exactly what she wanted.

“She’d started singing when she was five and her parents supported her. There was a Beyoncé train on the fast track to fame and you were either on it or off it. Some people fell off the train and others jumped,” he told the publication.

Despite being one of the most famous people in the world, the 34-year-old still labels herself a “simple girl from Houston,” but according to her ex she is anything but.

“She lived and breathed her career,” Lyndall said.
