Sad news for former marathon swimmer Susie Maroney with the Gold Coast Bulletin reporting she’s called time on her marriage to Perry Cross.

The sports star married Perry, who became a C2 quadriplegic when he was just 19 from a rugby injury, in November last year in a romantic ceremony in Byron Bay.

“Perry’s a wonderful inspiration as everyone knows and a beautiful man, but I really don’t want to say anything more at this stage,” Susie explained when asked for comment to the Sunday Telegraph.

Susie, 42, met Perry in 2014 after they hit it off at a fundraiser event for his charity, the Perry Cross Spinal Research Foundation.

At the time, Susie admitted her new partner had become an instant hit with her three children.

“My children couldn’t have a better role model,” she revealed to the Gold Coast Bulletin.

“It’s just amazing that I’ve found someone that I love so much, it just feels easy for once. He makes me a better person,” Susie said on The Morning Show.

Susie admitted Perry was a “wonderful” role model for her three young children.

And just a few months ago, they even expressed their wish to have a child together via IVF.

“We’ll eventually make our way up here but we just want to make sure the kids are settled before we make the move,” she said.

The swimming champ, who became the youngest Aussie to swim the English channel, was previously married to Robert Daniels and Darren May.

In 2016, the long distance swimmer overcame melanoma.
