Aussie sports star Stephanie Rice has been rushed to hospital during a trip to the US.
The 26-year-old former Olympian was taken to hospital suffering stomach pains and was rushed into emergency surgery for appendicitis.
Posting a picture on Instagram from her hospital bed, Stephanie thanked her friends for getting her to hospital.
“Not the ideal end to my US trip but finally heading home. I went to hospital 3 days ago with stomach pains which turned out to be appendicitis, which needed emergency surgery,” she wrote.
“It was all a bit scary, more so being in a different country and not having anyone there but I was so overwhelmed with the support and generosity from my new American friends.
“I feel very blessed to have such lovely, warm and kind people in my life!! Thank you for all your help. Now I can go home to mummy and daddy.”
We’re glad to hear she has recovered and is heading back home to Australia safely!
