Shannon Noll hits back at critics of his Australian anthem rendition

Shannon Noll has hit back at critics of his rendition of the national anthem at this weekend’s Cox Plate.

Former Australian Idol Shannon Noll copped quite a bit of criticism over the weekend for what some have called “the most bogan rendition ever” of the Australian national anthem, Advance Australia Fair.  Or, as some have called his version: “Advernce Austraya Fair”.

Shannon, 39, who recently relaunched his musical career was performing at Victoria’s Moonee Valley race course to open the annual Cox Plate races.

It didn’t take long though for viewers to react to his performance on Twitter. Some of the highlights included:

“BREAKING NEWS VIC Police Detectives on way to Moonee Valley to investigate claims Shannon Noll murdered the national anthem” – @Miloshforeman

“Lucky Shannon Noll isn’t a horse because that version of the national anthem would have had him put down #GlueFactory #CoxPlate” – @TheHausOfKunte

“Most bogan rendition of the anthem I’ve ever heard….. #CoxPlate” – @melleegee

Poor Nollsie clearly wasn’t too happy about the criticism he received though, as he made clear in a response to one of his Twitter critics:

Shannon also retweeted some of the few positive Tweets he received:

“@NOLLSIE Don’t worry about the knockers mate. Tough gig with the sound quality there, I thought you held it together well #shannonnoll” – @dcm81
