It was supposed to be the olive branch extended to smooth over decades of tension between Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson and the Royal Family.

However according to a new report by the Daily Mail, the Duchess of York has been excluded from Royal Wedding guest list for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s evening reception, hosted by Prince Charles for 250 close friends and family at Frogmore House.

Although Sarah Ferguson, who shares two daughters Princess Eugenie, 28, and Princess Beatrice, 29, with her ex-husband Prince Andrew, has landed an invite to the wedding ceremony at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle and the lunchtime reception, she will have to tap out for the third and final act.

Causing even more pain for Fergie is the fact that her daughters and ex will be attending the Frogmore House bash without her.

“Numbers are limited to the evening party, she is not a member of the Royal Family any more and Prince Charles doesn’t have time for her,” an insider told the Daily Mail.

“He just can’t see why she is still such a big part of his brother’s life.”

It’s not the first time the 58-year-old author has experienced the royal cold shoulder.

Insiders say Fergie is upset over the snub.

In 2011, Fergie wasn’t invited to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s nuptials and confessed to Oprah she was devastated.

“I felt that I ostracised myself by my behaviour, by the past, by living with all the regrets of my mistakes, that I sort of wore a hair shirt and beat myself up most of the day thinking and regretting why did I make such a mistake? Why have I made so many mistakes?”

“I wanted to be there with my girls… to be getting them dressed and to go as a family.”

“I chose to go and be in Thailand in a place called Kamalaya…the jungle embraced me,” the mother-of-two, who was married to Prince Andrew from 1986-1996, explained.

It’s well-known in royal circles that Prince Philip isn’t a fan of his son’s ex-wife but despite the beef, Andrew and Fergie remain the friendliest of exes.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are due to wed on May 19th.

Up until 2015, the former couple even lived together at their Royal Lodge in Windsor.

Ever the diplomat, sources tell E! News Prince Harry “always planned to invite” his aunt.

“She is the mother of [Princess] Eugenie and [Princess] Beatrice, both of whom he is close to. Harry has always been fond of Ms. Ferguson and he would never want to exclude a family member,” the source revealed.

However with an enormous guest list to navigate and family politics to consider, it seems the groom has had to make a few compromises along the way.

So to Fergie we say, getting to go to two out of three parts of the royal wedding ain’t bad!
