Sandra Bullock has endured a painful divorce, some rough press, and huge life changes over the past three years, but in a wide-ranging interview the Oscar-winning actress has revealed she has no desire to look backward, and wouldn't have it any other way.
The 49-year-old US Vogue cover girl told the October issue of the magazine she feels "on top of the world" since becoming a mum and working on some exciting project in the past three years, despite the rocky road to getting where she is.
Days after Bullock won the Best Actress Oscar for The Blind Side, reports emerged that he had cheated on her. She quickly filed for divorce and became a single mother to Louis who she adopted in January 2010, but managed to keep secret for the first few months of his life.
"We're all where we're supposed to be," she says now.
"I'm exactly where I want to be now. You can't go backward and I’m not going backward."
Bullock, who is preparing for the release of upcoming film Gravity, says she feels "grateful" and "blessed" with what she has.
"Nobody can be prepared for anything," she says, and adds that she is having "such an amazing time" as a mum.
"Whatever comes our way, we handle as a family. It's not just me anymore," she says.
Heat co-star Melissa McCarthy, whose own children grew close to three-year-old Louis during filming, tells of how much Bullock adores her son.
"Louise is number one, and the next one down is 101," she tells Vogue.
"He takes up the first hundreds slots in her life."
Despite continuing to busy herself with her career, Bullock makes it clear Louis is the centre of her universe, and she doesn't want her job to affect him.
"I don't want him to have pressures brought on by what I do," she says.
"I will quit. I will leave. If I see whatever I'm doing affecting him negatively, I will pack up and move to Alaska."
