Sam and her fellow morning TV hosts Kochie, Nat and Beretts showed off their thick skin and sense of humour reading aloud some of the insulting social media posts written about them.

In the vein of US talk show host Jimmy Kimmel’s hilariously funny ‘Celebrities Read Mean Tweets’, the Sunrise team’s Sunrise Social Meania videos poke fun at those who take the time to tease them online.

Among the angry tirades from cyber critics were plenty of nonsensical error riddled quips directed toward Sam which she effortlessly countered with amusing  and quick witted remarks.

“Sam, big boobs and a big mouth,” recited Sam, before quickly adding: “Well, no-one said that was bad for Kate Upton, did they?” before feigning sobs into a handful of tissues.

From one viewer who seems to have taken issue with Sam’s hair the blonde host reads: “Sam, just got a text from Carol from The Brady Bunch, she wants her curtains back.”

The knockabout newsreader seems un-phased by her online detractors and why would she care – since taking the top job on the morning couch her star has risen significantly and she has become one of the most popular faces on TV.

Armytage isn’t shy of getting cheeky on social media herself.

Last month the breaky host handed over her Twitter account to FM host Tim ‘Rosso’ Ross after coming off second best in a game of ‘Truth or Dare’ on live radio.

Rosso quizzed Sam by asking: “Have you ever kissed Modern Family’s Eric Stonestreet?”

Sam predictably declined to answer but she perhaps she should have, given the ‘dare’ that was about to ensue.

Rosso demanded two hours of control to Armytage’s Twitter but the Sunrise host could only submit to a single tweet, which read: “OMG I’M GOING TO SIXTY MINUTES #DREAMJOB!”

The Twitter-sphere went onto meltdown over the hoax announcement and Sam was forced to go into damage control firing off several follow-up tweets in an effort set the record straight.

“Things I learnt today; NEVER hand your phone over to an FM radio host,” wrote Sam.

Armytage and Stonestreet were rumoured to have gone on a date after a flirtatious Twitter exchange while the actor was in Sydney to film a Modern Family special in Australia.
