After a string of failed reality romances, former Bachelorette star Sam Frost finally found the solid relationship she wanted when friendship turned into love with navy diver Dave Bashford in 2017.
However, Woman’s Day can reveal that a scandal has rocked the couple’s picture-perfect romance, with the defence worker being charged with drug possession.
Last week, a NSW police statement revealed that on May 4 a covert drug operation saw Dave, 27, cautioned and arrested for possession of a prohibited drug.
The couple have been together two years.

The documents explained that Dave acted suspiciously at Bondi’s Beach Road Hotel when uniformed police and a drug detection dog entered the premises. He was later interviewed by police and made a full admission to possessing cocaine.
Dave pleaded guilty to the charge at Waverley Local Court on June 4 and he will be sentenced next week, where he could be facing anything from a good behaviour bond or more seriously, two years in prison.
Speaking to Woman’s Day, a source close to Dave’s girlfriend Sam reveals that behind the scenes the Home And Away star has been left shaken by the charges.
“She’s been struggling with the whole situation,” admits the insider.
“It’s been a complete blow to her… Sam is extremely private and protective of Dave and their relationship, and something like this happening just puts such a strain on them.”

Last week, the couple managed to put on a brave face as they attended a baby shower for fellow Bachelor alumnus Anna Heinrich‘s sister Andrea. But behind the scenes, the source says Sam’s concerns for her boyfriend’s mental health are an “absolute priority”.
“Sam just wants to be there for him right now and get through this rough patch,” the source explains.
“She’s hellbent on being his rock right now.”

Earlier this year, Sam and her sister Kristine Ross launched a website called Believe by Sam Frost – a platform aimed at young girls and women struggling with mental health.
Following her separation from her Bachelor winner Sasha Mielczarek in late 2016, the star opened up candidly about her own mental health issues.
“I said to [Sasha], ‘I don’t want to wake up every day any more’. And it wasn’t until I said that out loud, because I’d just been bottling it all in, and I saw the helplessness in his face, and I realised it’s not fair for me to want to give up,” Sam admitted.
Sam is standing by her man through this rough patch.
