Russell Crowe boycotts Virgin after hoverboard dispute

He has vowed to “never again” fly with the airline

Actor Russell Crowe has hit out at Virgin Australia in a series of tweets, claiming he was barred from bringing his children’s hover boards onto a flight.

The self-balancing motorised boards were banned from several airlines in Australia, the US and the UK due to fire concerns over their lithium ion batteries.

However, Crowe was caught unawares and has stated he would “never again” fly with the airline.

Virgin Australia’s official Twitter quickly responded, informing him that the boards were banned due to safety concerns.

British Airways, Singapore Airlines, Qantas and other major airlines have also introduced various bans on Segways and other forms of self-balancing boards on flights.
