Global soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has opened up about the unexpected kindness the British royal family showed following the death of his newborn son Angel earlier this year.
Following birth complications that have yet to be revealed, Angel passed away on the day he was born, April 18. He was survived by a healthy twin sister Bella.
The surprise revelation came amidst an interview with controversial media personality Piers Morgan, as Ronaldo willingly opened up about the heart-breaking ordeal for the first time.

(IMAGE: Getty)Speaking of the royal family, Ronaldo said that a gesture of support directly from the late Queen Elizabeth II was ”touching”.
”I received a letter from the Queen’s family as well [as my fans], it surprised me a lot.”
”Offering their condolences?” asked Piers, to which Ronaldo replied: ”Yes, unbelievable. This is why I say, I respect a lot the English community, English people, because they’ve been really kind with me in that difficult moment of my life, it was spectacular, they way they treated me, my family in that difficult moment.”
Opening up further about his son Angel’s sudden death, Ronaldo said it was one of the worst moments of his life since his father died.
”When you have a kid you expect everything will be normal and when you have a problem it’s hard.
”Me and Gio (Giorgina) had difficult moments. It was very, very difficult to understand what was going on in that period of my life.
”The football didn’t stop, we had so many competitions. It was probably the most difficult moment in my life”.
Cristiano and longterm girlfriend Georgina shared their heartbreaking family news via Instagram in April this year.
(IMAGE: Instagram)The 37 year old then added that he keeps Angel’s ashes close to those of his father, who died of liver failure in 2005, at a chapel in his home.
”I talk with them all the time and they are on my side,” he added.
”You know they help me to be a better man, to be a better person, to be a better father. And it’s something that I am really proud of…the message that they send me, especially my son.”
Speaking on Angel’s passing earlier this year, Ronaldo alongside partner Georgina said that only the birth of a healthy twin baby girl have them ”the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.”
