Renee Zellweger: “I’m glad folks think I look different”

Renee Zellweger has responded to the massive reaction she received this week for the changed appearance of her face.

Renee, 45, appeared at Elle’s 21st annual Women in Hollywood Awards earlier this week with a remarkably different appearance.

It was her first public appearance in months after taking a break from her film career and her new look instantly set tongues wagging.

But Renee was quick to respond to the comments about her changed look.

Renee called all the attention she received “silly” but in a statement to People she said that she was choosing to address it because: “it seems the folks who come digging around for some nefarious truth which doesn’t exist won’t get off my porch until I answer the door.”

Far from the cosmetic surgery that many commentators thought that she had, Renee put her new look down to restfulness.

“My friends say that I look peaceful. I am healthy,” Renee said.

“For a long time I wasn’t doing such a good job with that. I took on a schedule that is not realistically sustainable and didn’t allow for taking care of myself. Rather than stopping to recalibrate, I kept running until I was depleted and made bad choices about how to conceal the exhaustion. I was aware of the chaos and finally chose different things.”

Renee says she has been living a new life now that she’s in her 40s. Leaving behind the hectic filming schedule of days past. She’s living life at a more relaxed, slower pace and enjoying time with her beau Doyle Bramhall.

“I did work that allows for being still, making a home, loving someone, learning new things, growing as a creative person and finally growing into myself.”

“People don’t know me in my 40s. People don’t know me [as] healthy for a while,” Renee said.

The most important thing though is that Renee is happy and comfortable in her own skin.

“Perhaps I look different. Who doesn’t as they get older?! Ha. But I am different. I’m happy.”
