Actress, writer and comedienne Rebel Wilson has declared that her size gives her license to make fat jokes.
“You have to use what you’re given to make yourself funny: if you’re super short, super tall, super skinny, have a super big nose – you’ve got to use that,” the Aussie star told Hunger Magazine .
Rebel, who appeared looking saucy on the cover of the magazine, explained Australian humour to its US audience: “I like making fun of myself, because it gives me license to make fun of other people. Otherwise you just come off way too mean.
“We have a saying in Australia: if you ‘pay out’ on yourself, you can ‘pay out’ on everyone else. It gives you room to move.”
The 27-year-old Pitch Perfect star has seduced Hollywood with her acting prowess and is quickly becoming the new face of Tinseltown’s comedic leading ladies.
“Before, it was all glamorous types like Kate Hudson who served as, like, the female equivalent of a ‘straight man’. Now it’s turning, and it’s really good,” she said.
The Aussie star has tried to lose weight in the past and was previously a spokesperson for Jenny Craig . She dropped a large amount of weight before being asked to ditch the weight-loss program for a film role that required her to keep her curvy figure. Since then she has embraced her size and even uses it to her advantage.
”I like spreading the message that you can be beautiful and confident whatever shape or size you are,” she said.
