After only six months of dating, Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder are engaged!
“She accepted with glee. She is madly in love,” an insider confirmed to US Weekly.
The pair make quite the blood-sucking duo, with Ina, 36, the star of TV’sVampire Diariesand Nikki, 26, known for her work in theTwilightfranchise.
“They were friends before, the groundwork had been laid before. They had always been attracted to each other, but always in another relationship. It may seem quick, but they knew it was right. They believe in the same things. They are dedicated to their work and helping others.”
The on-screen vampires began dating back in July last year, and things got serious fast! The couple, who moved in together just three weeks into their relationship, share a passion for animals and have adopted horses Eagle and Millie, a kitten named Sohalia and two dogs Nietzsche and Enzo.
Nikki sparked rumours of the engagement when she was spotted wearing a stunning diamond band on her right hand at the Golden Globes during their first official appearance as a couple!
We think she was trying to trick us into thinking there was no engagement, until Ian posted an adorable selfie with Nikki with this cryptic message on Instagram:
“How I spent my New Year’s Day- in a #tbt way- wow. Week one of 2015. Thank you all for giving me so much strength-we’re ready to kick major ass and make a great future starting now. Happy 1st week of the New Year- I hope you’re on track with making your future the most sustainable and harmonious one possible…”
The engagement isn’t a surprise to those close to Nikki and Ian. A friend of the couple said that “Ian had been in love with [her] for years,” long before they took their friendship to the next level. “They’re so happy! They were crazy happy from the start. Their families love each other. It just feels really right,” The friend said.
It looks like the loved-up duo are in it for the long haul, recently starting their own production company together.
“Nikki and I are starting a production company and we’re going to be able to tell even more stories that we really want to tell, everything from documentaries to TV shows to movies…all kinds of stuff,
“Having the success of a television show like [Vampire Diaries] really allows you to be able…now I get to start spreading my creative wings as well.”
