When Nicole Kidman flew into London with her daughters last week, she looked downcast and exhausted.
The usually glamorous actress, 48, had her hair pulled back and hid her makeup-free face under dark sunglasses as she ushered Sunday, 7, and four-year-old Faith out of the terminal.
Nicole is in the UK to perform in her first stage show in 17 years. She’s landed the role of scientist Rosalind Franklin in the upcoming West End production Photograph 51.
But her lengthy stay away from her home in Nashville could not have come at a worse time.
Across the other side of the Atlantic in the US, her husband Keith Urban was busy preparing to play his set at the California Mid-State Fair, just a few days after Nicole’s departure.

Also performing at the event was up-and-coming country music star Kelsea Ballerini, who has been touted by Taylor Swift as being a huge talent and a star to watch.
But according to fans at the concert, Keith is also a big fan of the 21-year-old blonde singer…
Ahead of his performance at the fair, Keith, 47, is said to have spent some time in his luxury tour van getting to know the songstress, who is 26 years his junior. A male friend was also rumoured to be in the van.
Shortly after, Keith made his exit. Onlookers say the pair avoided eye contact.
In Woman’s Day’s exclusive photos and video, Kelsea appeared quite excited as she hopped out of the tour bus around 20 minutes later, dancing and smiling.
Having already finished her performance that evening, Kelsea waited for Keith outside his bus – but when he emerged a few minutes later, they walked to the stage area separately.
“They were both in the bus together and then she came out, presumably so Keith could get ready,” an eyewitness shared.

The couple are the proud parents of Sunday Rose, six, and Faith Margaret, four.
“Kelsea appeared to be glowing and she hung around Keith’s trailer like an excited groupie, dancing with one of the security guys. But when he came out it was like they didn’t know each other – they’d just been on the same bus but they weren’t even making eye contact.”
