Thaddeus Farrow’s recent death has now been determined as a suicide, confirms the Associated Press.

The adopted son of actress Mia Farrow passed away from life-threatening injuries after he fatally shot himself in the torso on Wednesday, September 21.

The 27-year-old was found seriously wounded in his car in Roxbury, Connecticut on Wednesday, about 12 kilometres away from his mother’s home.

He was later pronounced dead at Danbury Hospital at around 2:30pm.

“He died from a life-threatening injury he suffered in his car… and there was no foul play,” a police statement read.

Mia penned a touching tribute to her son.

Shortly after her son’s death was confirmed, Mia, 71, took to Twitter with a heartbreaking statement.

“We’re devastated by the loss of Thaddeus, our beloved son and brother,” she wrote. “He was a wonderful, courageous person who overcame so much hardship in his short life.

“We miss him. Thank you for the outpouring of condolences and words of kindness.”

Mia adopted Thaddeus in 1994 from an orphanage in Calcutta, India following her divorce from Woody Allen.

Thaddeus, who is one of ten children the star has adopted, was paralysed from the waist down and wheelchair-bound after contracting polio as a child.

Back in 2013, Thaddeus spoke to Vanity Fair about his upbringing. “It was scary to be brought to a world of people whose language I did not understand, with different skin colours,” he explained to the publication.

“The fact that everyone loved me was a new experience, overwhelming at first.”

Thaddeus was adopted in 1994 from an orphanage.

This is the third adopted child of Mia’s to pass away. Her daughter, Tam Farrow, tragically died from heart failure in 2000 when she was just 19.

In 2008, her other daughter, Lark Previn, passed away at the age of 35 after suffering from AIDS-related pneumonia.

The mother-of-14 also has four biological children, twins Matthew and Sascha, 46, and 42-year-old Fletcher Previn, with ex-husband André Previn, as well as Ronan Farrow, 28, whom she shared with ex Woody Allen.

Mia’s ex-husband Woody Allen famously fell in love with his adopted daughter, Soon-Yi.

In the past, Ronan has praised his mother for using her wealth to help those less fortunate in the world by adopting them.

“I am so proud of my family. I grew up across the table from Moses, who has cerebral palsy, and next to my sister Quincy, born of a drug-addicted inner-city mother, and Minh, who is blind.”

“I could never have understood what it means to grow up blind or with cerebral palsy. I saw problems and needs, so the next thing you think is: OK, what are you going to do about it?” Ronan explained.
