While their public statements presents the divide as amicable, splitting the real estate portfolio will be the real test, with the couple owning real estate in Spain, California and Aspen, Colorado.

The pair were often spotted on the slopes at Aspen and Banderas has spoken of his attachement to the area. “Part of me would love to live here full time,” he said in an interview with AspenPeak magazine.

“Aspen has given me so much in terms of personal time, family time, and time to get deeper about who I am and who I want to be.”

The pair, who met on set while making the movie Too Much, announced their separation over the weekend.

“We have thoughtfully and consensually decided to finalize our almost twenty years marriage in a loving and friendly manner honouring and respecting each other, our family and friends and the beautiful time we have spent together” a joint statement said.

The two wed in London in May 1996.

This will be the fourth divorce for Griffiths who was married and remarried to Don Johnson between 1976 and 1996.

She also tied the knot with Steven Bauer in 1982, with the marriage lasting about five years.

Griffiths has a daughter, Dakota, to Johnson and a son, Alexander, to Bauer.
