After months of bitter court battles, Mel B — real name, Melanie Brown — has taken to social media in the aftermath of her divorce from Stephen Belafonte.

Taking to Instagram, the former Spice Girl said she had been “close to death” and “paralysed with fear” in a lengthy and emotional message with her followers.

“After my father’s death nothing could touch me anymore,” she began.

“For example, I’ve felt all morning I have the devil on my shoulder whispering in my ear ‘you’re not strong enough to handle the storm’ so after I finished my morning routine, cooking my kids breakfast and feeding my two frenchies and my two fainting goats thought hold on a minute stop.”

“Then I started yelling back to this diablo ‘I AM the frigging storm’ boom.”

The America’s Got Talent host said she managed to access her “inner strength” to pull her through the hard times.

“People often say to me ‘oh Mel B you’re so strong’ and I have to think to myself, yes I am strong, but listen I’m only strong because I’ve been incredibly weak and during that weak time I taught myself how to access my inner strength.”

“I’ve have been close to death literally and paralysed with fear which in due course over time has made me fearless, extremely fearless.”

She added: “Some say “oh that Mel B is Spontaneous and CRAZY” plzzzzz, to that I say nooooooo, it’s called living in your truth and following your inner voice and trusting and believing that you are guided even when logic would say otherwise.”

The 42-year-old went on to warn fans to act cautiously when inviting someone into their lives.

“So be careful who you invite into your soul, surround yourself with people that are only going to take you higher whether that be spiritually or physically,” she concluded.

Earlier this year, the singer obtained a temporary restraining order against her estranged husband after detailing multiple instances of alleged physical assault and blackmail.

The couple were granted a divorce by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge on Friday.

Mel claimed she was in “fear of her safety” and that of her children – six-year-old daughter Madison who she shares with Stephen, as well as her two daughters from previous relationships, Phoenix and Angel.

In explosive court documents obtained by TMZ, Mel detailed a series of events that played out the day after she performed with The Spice Girls at the London Olympics’ closing ceremony in 2012.

It’s alleged Stephen punched her with a closed fist which resulted in her face “actually scabbed over the rug burns.” He then reportedly forced her to tweet that she had received the injuries by running in seven inch Christian Louboutin heels.

Fans were lead to believe this injury was a result of an accident.

The documents also allege Stephen impregnated the family’s nanny, 26-year-old Lorraine Gilles.

Initially, Stephen wanted to keep the baby but the documents claim he changed his mind and paid for her to terminate the pregnancy.

“(He) told me he wanted to have the baby and all three of us live together. I was shocked and in disbelief,” Mel explained.

Mel also claims her husband would often compare her physical features to Lorraine’s.

The couple were granted a divorce by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge on Friday (15 December) putting an end to the bitter divorce saga.
