Married At First Sight Australia season two favourite Mark Hughes didn’t end up with his TV-ready wife Christie Jordee but nearly 18 months since the controversial reality show wrapped, he’s found his happily ever after.

Farmer Mark has revealed he’s expecting his first child with his girlfriend of a year, Marie Angeleski, and the parents-to-be can’t wait to welcome their little one.

Over the weekend Mark, uploaded a photo of his baby’s nursery.

“Nursery finally baby ready!! #notlongnow #nervous #babyhughes #excitingtimes #gamechanger,” he captioned the pic.

As she counts down to motherhood, Mark’s partner Marie has also been sharing a flurry of exciting updates on social media, including bump pics and happy snaps from her baby shower.

“Well finally I’ve actually sat down on my maternity leave… just over 2 weeks to go…. feeling scared, excited, nervous and every other emotion…. I’m also feeling very lucky to be growing a little human with my sidekick @mark.hughes_ couldn’t be happier to be doing this together… #clueless #baby #ceoofbaby #love,” Marie confessed of starting maternity leave.

In September, the commercial director paid tribute to her boyfriend on their year anniversary, revealing the amazing story behind their romance and admitting their first date was almost their last!

“Exactly one year ago today I met this little legend. Interesting first date, but gave him another chance and have shared an awesome life since,” she said.

“We’ve really crammed a lot into a year. I’ve moved to the country, started a business together, been on holidays, 8 months pregnant and so happy we met each other. Couldn’t ask for a better sidekick.”

In June last year, Mark and Christie confirmed to Woman’s Day that their romance had come to an end after long distance proved too much of a challenge, with Christie based in Sydney and Mark on a property in rural Victoria.

“We were starting to fall in love but our heads got in front of our hearts,” Christie explained, admitting it was a tough decision to end their seven-month relationship.

When Now To Love caught up with the Sydney business owner in March, she claimed that mark wasn’t actually a farmer at all!

“That was all lies! He’s in construction and we lived on his father’s farm,” she said.

As their romance buckled under the pressure of long distance, Christie claims her experimental husband received a lot of attention from women on social media.

“Typical country boy, he believed his own hype a little bit and he had so many hot women chasing him. I think he thought ‘well, why do I need to go to Sydney when I have so many women that will come to me,'” she told us.

“There was a story that he cheated on me with somebody online and I know he didn’t cheat on me physically but he was calling some of those girls, I know that for a fact.”

Mark isn’t the only MAFS alumni gearing up to welcome a baby.

Last month, we revealed season three truck driver Susan Rawlings is pregnant with her first child after meeting her baby daddy online.

Congratulations to Mark and Marie on their bundle of joy!

Mark and Christie tried to stay together in the real world after the show stopped filming but long distance got the better of them.
