Quentin Tarantino’s next film is set to dive deeper into the Charles Manson family murders in what’s said to be his first film based on true events, according to Deadline.

Reports out of the US allege the iconic director has set his sights on Australian beauty Margot Robbie for the role of Sharon Tate, the late wife of French-Polish film director Roman Polanski.

On August 9, 1969, Tate was brutally murdered in the home she shared with her husband when she was eight-months pregnant with their first son. She was just 26.

Tarantino allegedly has Margot in mind.

The Aussie actress isn’t the only Hollywood heavyweight in talks to star in the upcoming drama.

The publication reveals Tarantino favourite Samuel L. Jackson will likely be playing a lead, while Brad Pitt is being “courted” to assume the role as the detective investigating the murder.

Hunger Games hero Jennifer Lawrence is also said to have been considered for a role, though it’s not clear yet as to who she’d be playing.

In 1971, Manson and members of his “family” were tried and convicted for the murders they’d convicted two years prior.

The cult leader remains behind bars where he is serving a life sentence at California State Prison in Corcoran.

Earlier this year, the New York Daily News reported that he had been denied parole some dozen times. His next hearing is scheduled for 2027.
