Madonna: ‘I accept I have lost my son’

“Madonna has now accepted Rocco isn't coming home and that his home is now with his dad.”

Madonna has finally “accepted” her 15-year-old son Rocco is “lost” to her, telling friends she is “utterly bereft”.

The Mail on Sunday reports the pop star has given up all hope of her estranged son returning to her.

“The fact is Madonna has now accepted Rocco isn’t coming home and that his home is now with his dad,” a friend told the newspaper. “Rocco wants to be with his dad but she won’t give up being his mother.

“She won’t stop fighting to try to make sure Rocco is kept safe and has what he needs. She can’t understand why it has come to this. Her world has been shattered.”

Madonna broke down on stage in Auckland on Friday, telling fans how much she missed her son.

“There is no love stronger than a mother for her son,” she told the audience, while dedicating a son to Rocco. “If I talk about him too much I might cry. I hope he hears this somewhere and knows how much I miss him.”

The custody dispute kicked off in December when Rocco left his mother’s Rebel Heart tour to return to London to live with his father Guy Ritchie.

He then defied a court order that demanded he return to his mother’s US home for Christmas, choosing instead to remain with his father and his father’s new wife.

Madonna and Ritchie are still fighting for custody of Rocco in a UK family court.
