Lisa Wilkinson is an undisputed legend when it comes to tackling Aussie media – but like all of us, the Project host has proved she’ll never forget her roots.
In a surprise reveal, the talented journalist has shared the ultimate throwback picture of herself from a time when she was just starting out in the media industry, and it would be safe to say she’s definitely come a long way since!
Taking to her Instagram on Thursday evening, Lisa shared a picture of herself featuring in an advertisement for a magazine called Electronics Australia.
Alongside the hilarious picture of Lisa holding what appears to be a metal detector, Lisa wrote: “Flashback to a 19 year old me appearing in the pages of Electronics Australia magazine,” accompanied by several laughing emojis.
She continued: “I was the receptionist at Dolly magazine at the time, so I’m not quite sure how I got talked into doing some “modelling” with one of those new-fangled build-it-yourself metal detectors for them, but hey I was 19 and keen to please!”
The now wildly successful journalist Lisa added what many of us were thinking at the end by saying: “PS. Wish I’d held onto that cool shirtdress though!! And the boots weren’t bad either…”
She’s not wrong – her ensemble is one that is well on-trend today!

Lisa has experienced a wildly successful career in the media landscape.
At 21, Lisa became the youngest editor ever of national women’s magazine Dolly.
She then moved on to become editor-in-chief at Cleo magazine, which experienced an incredibly fast rise in popularity under her leadership.
Later in her career, Lisa moved into television, playing host to Channel Nine’s Today show for more than a decade before moving across to The Project on Channel Ten, where she currently remains.
But it seems Lisa will never forget her roots as a receptionist at Dolly – especially with the photographic evidence to prove it!
