The Today Show may have just overtaken Sunrise as the most-watched breakfast show on TV, entertaining thousands of viewers every morning, but veteran presenter and The Weekly cover star Lisa Wilkinson still fears her job may be on the line.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, Lisa reveals that she constantly worries if her time hosting the show is almost up.

“I come in every day thinking, ‘Any day now someone is going to pat me on the shoulder and say, ‘Okay, you’ve had enough fun now, time to pass the baton to the next one,” she said.

“Fortunately it hasn’t happened and for as long as [this job] lasts I’m going to make the most of it. There is no better job in television.”

Lisa joined the show in May 2007 following the departure of Jessica Rowe, but despite being an experienced pro, she says she puts serious time and effort into preparing for her interviews.

“Sure, the hours are a little bit ordinary … But it means that every time I do a political interview, I do my homework,” she explained.

“Every day I make sure I am as prepared as I possibly can be to do the job the best way I know how. Bringing anything less to the table would be wrong. The audiences are better than that.”

And that is why we’d put money on the fact that Lisa doesn’t need to worry about anyone tapping on her shoulder any time soon. Here’s to ten more years!
