Former Sunrise host Melissa Doyle has reunited with fellow former breakfast TV star Lisa Wilkinson to discuss The Project host’s book, It Wasn’t Meant To Be Like This.
At the event held on Monday morning, it was a walk down memory for the women who previously worked together at Seven’s breakfast show Sunrise before Lisa went on to co-host The Today Show on Channel Nine.

(Credit: Instagram)On her Instagram, Lisa posted a photo of herself with Mel and a picture of them hosting the event, along with a caption detailing the tremendous impact Mel had on her early days learning the ropes of morning television.
“Breakfast (now where have @melissadoyleofficial and I heard that word before?!) this morning chatting with this wonderful woman about some of the stories behind my book – along with some very special @audiaustralia customers,” Lisa began.
She continued to detail how Mel mentored her and gave her endless support that left Lisa feeling at ease and assured someone was in her corner.
“When I was lucky enough to work with Mel at @sunriseon7, she taught me so much about how to “do” breakfast tv – both on and off-screen…and I remain forever grateful for her kindnesses and generosity over the years.”
“And Mel, given we were only meant to talk for 20 minutes this morning, and we could have so easily talked for hours.”

“And Mel, given we were only meant to talk for 20 minutes this morning, and we could have so easily talked for hours, I reckon a talk show could be an absolute goer for us down the track!! 😘😘😘,” she posed.
Feeling besotted and flattered by Lisa’s high praise, Mel responded in her comment section.
“”Talk for as long as you like” they said …. and we could have for days! 😂 Congratulations on your book Lisa … it’s an incredible achievement, as is your career. Guts, talent and warmth,” penned Mel.

Mel also shared a post from the event, and in her caption, she wrote with pride about her friend’s achievements.
